Please Let This One Work

I've been watching Raising Sextuplets on the WE channel. Like Jon & Kate Plus 8, it stresses me the heck out. I know a thing or two about raising multiples. Now granted I don't have higher order multiples and I can only imagine the added stress it must be for there to be more than two, but I feel like I'm watching the demise of a marriage all over again. Except this time Bryan is the Kate in this relationship in some aspects. I'll be the first to say raising children is no easy feat. It's hard a lot of the time and it usually requires you to be unselfish and give up things such as sleep, and me time to do things that your kids want or need.

Their lack of team work drives me crazy at times. I'm not going to lie Jimmy and I don't always agree on what or how things need to be or get done, but one thing we always strive for is to be a team. I feel that's really, really important to everyone's welfare. While children do need to see some arguments and then the compromise that follows the stress that is in a divided household is felt by all. Even the kids, even when you don't think they know. They do believe me. I'm glad the Masches realize this and are going to a counselor, they need it, to work through some of those rough spots and hurt feelings that they are having. I would not for a moment hesitate to attend counseling if we needed it. To have an unbiased third party involved could work wonders. I'm no excerpt of course, these are just my opinions and based on my exsperiances as not only a parent but a parent to multiples.

I really hope they make it as a couple, they seem like nice people who adore their children. I just hope they can stayed married to each other!

Request

If you don't mind could you keep Jimmy's dad in your thoughts and prayers. He had a procedure to place a pacemaker on Tuesday. That went fine however he's not producing urine like the doctors would like. In fact he's gained 15lbs from all the fluids he's retaining. The doctors are getting concerned as are we.

Thanks bunches.

Gone Fishin

If you followed my twitter(over there on the right hand side), you know that we took the boys fishing for the first time today. I myself have not been fishing in about 15 years. We had fun today.

The boys both caught 2 or three fish each. Kolton loved it and was all about reeling in the line and got super excited when there was actually a fish on the end.

Karter caught his fish and then he was done. He had fun but he would rather use electronic devices, like my iphone.

Thank you Jeannie,Hobart, Allison, Nana and Papa. We all had so much fun. Kolton asked at bedtime if we could go back and fish sometime soon.
EDIT: I forgot to say thank you to Paige and Bryan for playing with us at Nana's house. You wore the boys out and they were ready for bed when we got home.

Kolton's and Karter's Other Twin

Recently Jimmy's mom gave us some pictures of Jimmy as a little boy. One of the pictures looks so much like Kolton.

Of the two I had thought Kolton looked more like me. It's usually 50/50 on who people say looks like me.
What do you think?

Jimmy at about 18mo.

Kolton at about 18mo.

Jimmy at about 9mo.

Karter at about 18mo.

Me at about 18mo.

The pictures of the boys are not the best, but I wanted ones of them where they were about the same age as Jimmy and I.

Who looks like who to you?

Shout Out to Mi Familia

Finally we are coming to the end of our very busy, very eventful last 2 months. It would have all been impossible for me to handle and even more stressful if it were not for two very lovely ladies in our lives.

Seen here with Kolton, Karter and my nephew Collin

Nanni(my mom) moved back to our state within the last two years after being gone for 8 years. I'm so glad she's back. She has been such a huge help to me and the boys are crazy about her. The past couple of months she's helped me anytime I needed it including staying the night and getting up very early and watching the boys so I could go to an 8:00 appointment. She lets the boys chew gum and eat all her chips. They trash her house and have screaming contests with her. Thank you so very much mom.

Nana visting, brining a party and McD's

Nana(Jimmy's Mom) is more than willing to drive the hour drive to our house at a moments notice. She comes with stickers, and crafts calling it a party, but the boys call it a birthday party. They love it. She sits with them for hours coloring, gluing and watching Mickey Mouse. Lets them talk to pawpaw on the phone and brings them Pez candies, which Karter loves. She is always willing to help were needed, giving kind words and hugs. Thank you nana!

We love you guys very much and I so appreciate you.

This concludes the mushy portion of the blog for awhile or until the next crisis.

My Dad

Eleven years ago my dad had a pretty bad heart attack. If I remember correctly over half of his heart is damaged, he died twice that night.

My dad is a stubborn man, although that is not a good trait to have sometimes, at others it is and I fully believe that this is why he has done so well.

Recently my dad has begun to get winded more easily than he previously had, this lead him to go to the his cardiologist to have things checked out. He fully believed that he probably had some more blockage. A stress test was preformed. He does not have blockage, but they did fine that he now needs an internal defibrillator. The doctor speculates that between 1 and 3 years it's HIGHLY likely that his heart will just stop beating. Unless he's somewhere where he can get immediate assistance he will die. My dad works in the oil field, his job requires him to travel to remote locations to check wells. More than likely he would be alone when this occurred. The device will at least give him a chance to call for help.

Papa(that's what we call him) will be having the defibrillator placed tomorrow. It's supposed to be a fairly fast procedure that may or may not require an overnight stay.

If you don't mind, please keep my papa in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow.

The One Where I Brag about My Husband

I don't brag about my husband enough especially here on the ole blog, but it's time to change that.

These past four weeks have been very trying for Jimmy and I as we tried to figure out what was going on with this pregnancy, dealt with Karter's procedure, tried to ready our old house for closing next week, and many other minor things in day to day life.

Several times throughout last week I was unable to do my nightly chores because of cramping and bleeding and Jimmy willingly stepped up to fill in. He's filled in where needing cooking dinner, giving baths to little boys and cleaning up the kitchen and toy littered room.

On top of that He's still been working and also working at our old house, which is were he headed off to now, even though it's late and he's very tired from having to take me to the ER last night because of the miscarriage. More on that in a minute.

I just wanted to publicly announce that I think he's an awesome husband and daddy. The boys adore him and didn't appear to miss me much today while I was at the hospital, due to all the daddy fun they had. While we do have out different opinions about things we are united at parents and that's very important.

My house is in shambles, my body is trying to recover, we've both probably gained some weight from comfort eating, but we are together and in the end that's what matters.

I love and appreciate you Jimmy!

I also want to thank my brother who came to our house in the middle of the night to be with the boys while they slept, even though he had to work early the next day. I love you guys too all three of you and I owe you one.

I will write a further post about this later, but I did miscarry last night. I had to go to the ER because of the bleeding and had to stay overnight. I have a early morning appointment tomorrow with the doctor to make sure it's complete and nothing further is needed. I'm still dealing with it tonight, taking some medication that makes me feel bad, but it's almost over.

Do I still Have My Eyes?

That's what I'm wondering after reading 2,444 pages or 4 books in 7 days. I have to say I did enjoy the break from laundry and reading blogs for those 7 days. It's time to step out of Bella and Edward land.

The books were very good. It took me awhile to decide if I wanted to read them or not, I'm glad I did.

And to answer my sister's questions. Yes Keelan, I have the fourth book and you are welcome to read it. See my sisters' have a plan, they only have to wait long enough for me to buy the books and read them at break speed and then they get to read them without paying for them. This is how they read almost all the Harry Potter books. It's ok buy me. I think good books should be shared.

It's that time of year again.

Being that it's close to Thanksgiving and Christmas I have been busy. Too busy to update lately. I hosted Thanksgiving that was also a surprise birthday party for my mom at my house last night. It was nice to have the family all together.

While doing all my cooking I listened to Mark Driscoll a lot. I like his approach, it's straight to the point and he covers a lot of things that we have everyday questions to.

Birthday Babies

Today was my niece and nephews 1st birthday party. They are three days apart so they had a combined party. They got lots of goodies and had lots of cake. I took a ton of pictures but these are a few of my favorites.

I love these little munchkins like my own.

Fun at the Fair

Sunday was such a nice day here. Not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was just right. After church instead of finishing the fence that hubby had been working on all week we decided to go to the State Fair.

When I was a kid my family went every year those are fond memories for me. I want to carry that on for my kids. Last year we went it was hot and the kids could have cared less but this year was different. They had a great time we all enjoyed some fried fair food and the boys had their first carousel ride. They absolutely LOVED it. The carousel was my favorite as a kid and I still like it to this day. It warmed my heart to see my boys enjoying it so much. I have to admit a small tear came to my eye as I remembered just how far they have come in their two short years. We had so much fun that day, it was just a laid back Sunday afternoon.

Outside Time

For most of this week it has been super nice outside, the temps have been in the 70's and 80's and we have taken advantage of it.

The boys just love going outside and playing on their swing set and driving their cars. I would love to live somewhere where the weather stays like this all the time. I could live without the cold even though our winters are really not that bad here. Anyway that's beside the point. The point is the boys love to go outside and it keeps them from going stir crazy, which in turn keeps me from going crazy. I have tons of pictures that I have taken of them outside lately, but here are the latest ones.

Jimmy and I are going out tonight. My Mother-in-law has graciously volunteered to come to our house, she lives over an hour away, and watch the boys while Jimmy and I go eat or to the movie, or something. The problem is it has been so long since we have done anything without the kids that we don't know what to do. We won't be gone that long but it is much needed. Can I just say how awesome you are Nana! I have never been one to say I need time away or that I am feeling a little drained I always feel guilty if I voice it. I didn't have to, Nana just knew. Thank you!

Just Stuff

Every one has been fine here, just busy. On Wed. I took the kids to a local pool/park with a friend and her kids. They had a kiddie section that was totally separate from the big pool, it was really nice and the boys had a blast. Karter warmed up to the idea first and began to play with his bucket I brought him and to play with Alexa my friends daughter. Kolton clung to me for about 30 mins and then he warmed up and began to play with Alexa and Karter. They were so cute playing like big boys. I thought about bringing my camera, but I decided not to because I had never been there before and I didn't know if I could handle my big DSLR and two kids in a pool area. I wish I had now because it was a very controlled environment and I could have gotten some good pictures. I do need to get a good point and shoot for times like this.

Thursday was had a cool front come through and the weather was so nice. It was in the 80's verses the 100+ is has been in the last week or so, so we went outside and played in the backyard and on the swing set. Nana this is were we where when you called yesterday, sorry we missed your call!

Today I had to attend a funeral of one of my dear friends mother. I don't like funerals, and I don't like viewing the bodies. I would rather remember the person in happier times, but I went for my friend. She and her mother loved and love my boys and would come to visit. I regret that they didn't get to come as often as they would have liked because we had to limit visitors due to RSV and such, but none the less the love was there. She will be missed.

We are having another nice day here and after nap time will probably go outside to play and then maybe to dinner tonight.
Also I decided to take the boys two year shots myself. I am never really happy with the generic shots you get from Sears or places like them. However I have not done them yet, I wanted to do a family photo on the same day, first I was waiting to get the boys haircuts and now I'm waiting on getting mine and Jimmy's done. I did however get some good ones of them yesterday.

Despite the food on his shirt and the yellow line behind his head, I really like this. I know I can photoshop out that stuff, but I was not having any luck doing that tonight.

Story Time at the Library, and Goats and Chickens.

For the past three weeks, every Tuesday, we go to the library for lapsit story time. The class starts at 9:30am and lasts 30 mins. Initially I was pretty concerned if I was going to be able to handle them both, thankfully it has gone very well, I haven't even had to use the stroller and the boys hold my hand so nicely as we walk across the parking lot. Both boys seem to really enjoy going and while they don't sing the songs while we are there on the way home or just spontaneously at home they will start to sing them. Kolton's favorite part it getting his sticker and playing with the toys. It's also been nice for me to take them somewhere where other adults are although I've yet to really start talking to any of them yet.

Ok, on to the goats and chickens. This past weekend we went to visit my dad. We've not gone to my dad's that often because he and his wife used to come to our house every Sunday, but since we moved he has not been able to visit as often due to us being 30 mins further away. Anyway, we went to his house and they have a goat and some chickens. The boys have never seen either in real life. Kolton had fun chasing the chickens and feeding the goat. Karter fed the goat some too, but really liked playing on the swing set. They had such a fun time.

Birthday Party

The party was a hit. Thank you to everyone who attended. I'm so grateful that we have so many family and friends that love us and our boys. The boys love all their gifts and have played with them all today. You should see my living room, it looks like a toy store.
