Procedure Date Set & Then and Now Pics

We got the call yesterday that October 16 will be the date that they do Karter's procedure. I'm OK with the date, it's after our March of Dimes Walk, after Daddy's birthday and after his eye appointment on Oct. 3rd and my birthday on the 8th. We have to be at the hospital at 6:30am they will talk with us, answer all our questions, I'm assuming do some blood work and then the procedure. We may be able to go home the same day but we may end up staying overnight, it all depends on Karter and how he reacts and how quickly he wakes up. I'm sure as the date gets closer I will have more things to say about how I feel about it. For now I feel peaceful about it. I wish it didn't have to happen but I don't really feel all that worried at the moment.

23 Month Update

Ah, the boys are just one month away from being two. Where did the time go. Once upon a time I thought I would not survive the early days, with no sleep, and not time to do anything, but here I am, two years later. Let me just clarify I'm so glad the earlier days are over. While I do have some fond memories of those days, mostly not and while some really enjoy having small infants, I did not. Now don't get me wrong, I loved them dearly would do anything for them, and I did, but I just prefer these days over those. As a matter of fact I knew I would, while I like babies, I've never been a big baby person, I like toddlers. They are funny and fun, and boy do they wear you out, in a running after them, laughing a lot kind of way.

Kolton-At last weight in about a month ago he was 27lbs, he feels much heavier to me now but I have not weighted him in a while. He's pretty laid back and will play contently by himself most times. He seems to be more of a mama's boy lately. He can communicate what he wants and needs through words and for the most part I understand him. He's not very gentle with the animals and prefers hitting them or pulling their hair. All animals run from Kolton. He's very silly and will sometimes make funny faces at us. He understands pretty much everything I ask of him or tell him, which still surprises me sometimes. He has the most beautiful brown eyes, they are so dark and he just get more handsome the older he gets. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Karter- At last weight he was 26lbs that was also a month or so ago. Karter is not really laid back as a matter of fact he can get pretty uptight and usually does so on a daily basis. He is a daddy's boy and love to do all the things daddy does. Daily he begs to play with the phone, computer, keys, outside and to mow. If either one of those are met with a no, which they usually are, then a meltdown ensues. However, when you do say yes, which he usually get to do one of these things daily, just not at the time he want to do them, he is the happiest kid alive. He LOVES the water or should I say water hose. We bought a kiddie pool just last night and will see if he likes that tonight. Karter is using 3 word sentences now. Just yesterday he said to me and Jimmy "Kolton play water" which was correct because Kolton was playing in the sink. He's always saying "mommy eat", "daddy eat", "Kolton eat" and so on. He's one smart cookie. He has the most beautiful smile and his little mouth just makes you want to kiss him all over. Although he was the baby face of the two, he is really looking like a little boy now days. I've got the two cutest kids ever.

They have really done so great through this move. I might write a post soon on why I think they did so good. I deliberately did somethings I think helped with the transition.

22 Months

Today the boys turn 22 months old. This last month has been yet another month of language explosion. They can pretty much say anything they want or need now, however we still sometimes don't have a clue what they are saying.

Kolton's chin looks so much better, but I'm sorry to say it look s as if it has scarred. I plan to get some of that cream that is supposed to help with scaring and apply it. I hope it helps.
Kolton-Still the lovable bully. Takes things he wants away from both Karter and his cousin Collin. Usually he will bring something in trade and usually that trade does not go off very smoothly. Kolton says lots of things all day long. My favorite to hear him say is Pretzel. It's so cute! There for awhile this month Kolton had an obsession with an old tea maker I had. He wanted to sleep with it and carry it around like a lovey calling it a "tea". It's still hanging around but thankfully he hasn't paid much attention to it in several days. He is eating better now than he was last month, but now he dosen't really want to eat meat or anything with a meaty texture, I think it's all about texture now. With that said though he still does not eat much breakfast. I'm not a big breakfast eater either, as a matter of fact neither boy eats that much breakfast. About a month or so I kinda of got tired of hearing about the "Qune"vacuum all the time so after I was finished with it I told the boys the "Qune" was tired and needed to take a nap. Both immediately said "night, night qune", now whenever they think about it they tell everyone the "Qune" is night night.

Karter-Still obsessed with electronics. The minute Jimmy walks in the door from work Karter immediately starts talking about mowing and playing with the computer. He usually whines through a lot of dinner time wanting to do one or the other. He loves the mower and wants Jimmy to either let him ride on top of it or push it himself(never running, of course). He hears everything. The computer room door squeaks a little and no matter how quiet you try to be he hears it and goes running saying "puter". One of the new things he is saying a lot is "broke" everything that is not working the way he thinks it should be is broke. Karter has started liking milk again and asks for it several times a day. Kolton is not to fond of it, but neither am I.

Both boys have been going into their room to play by themselves or together for minutes at a time. I try to sneak and see what they are doing, but usually they hear me and then come a running. I've cut back on watching my nephew to two to three time a week so that I can do more things with the boys this summer. Speaking of doing more things the next few months are going to be super busy and I hope I can get enough fun time scheduled in there somewhere. We found a house we like and made an offer that was accepted. Our potential closing date it June 18. Our house is still on the market and has not been looked at in a week. This makes me nervous but our Realtor is one of the best in town and assures us that it will sell in 45 to 60 days. She says this is a desirable neighborhood and it's a nice house, so I hope so.

I'm sure there is more to write about, but I'm getting tired and I have a couple of movies I've been wanting to watch.

21 month Stats, and Ghost Hunters

The doctor appointment of Friday went good. I was even brave enough to take them both in without the stroller. Both boys held my hand like perfect little gentleman and, I even let them play with the germie public toys in the office. Eww! They were so good, when our name was called they held my hands and followed me back. They both got a little teary eyed when the nurse weighed them and took their measurements, but recovered quickly. They both kept saying "bye bye" and "daddy" over and over, basically telling me they wanted to leave. As we waited for the doctor both sat on my lap and I told them several times that the doctor was going to come and see them and listen to their hearts and tell us how big they have gotten. They both seemed to understand and Kolton kept saying "see me". I was trying to prepare them because Kolton has "white coat syndrome" and usually cries which starts Karter crying. When the doctor came in both just continued to sit on my lap as the doctor looked in their eyes and ears and did the whole spill. They kept talking to the doctor about "bobo" the dog. No crying while the doctor was in the room. Then it was shot time. I laid both on the table pulled down both their pants. The nurse gave each one a shot quickly, I brought out the b's(binkies) and they cried for a second. Kolton however before the shot said "no" several time and then when she poked him he said "oww" and pushed her hand away. Karter said "no" several times. When we were fixing to leave Kolton with tears still in his eyes ran to the door, opened it(he can open the ones with the handicap handles) and said "go". They got suckers and as we left they both said "bye" to the nurse. Then they held my hand as we left. I was so proud of them they are growing up.

Kolton:
26 lbs
34 1/2 in tall
49 1/2 cm head

Karter:
25 lbs
33 1/2 in tall
48 1/2 cm head

Oh, I forgot to mention that the doctor said, that what is on Kolton's face did in fact look like pimples. At first he didn't look at it very well and tried to give me some sort of cream. I was persistent and kept saying it's been there for months. It acts like a pimple he look at it closely and said it did indeed look like a pimple and it had some blackhead looking things around it. So he gave us some cream for pimples and said it should be gone in 7 to 14 days. We will see, I'm calling the dermatologist if it isn't gone in the allotted days, however it does look better today.

And now for the Ghost Hunters part.

I really like the show Ghost Hunters, I DVR it every Wednesday and watch it commercial free later.

Last weeks episode had the funniest blooper I've yet to see on this show. I died laughing, because you know every one loves a little poo humor.

21 Month Update

You know that house I referred to in the previous post, the one we loved? Well, we decided we don't love it so much and are not making an offer. However, we are still putting our house on the market and we will began to look for a house closer to Jimmy's work. We will probably live in a town that is about 15 mins away from the one we currently live in.

Now for the update. For this months update I'm just going to lump it into one paragraph instead of one for each kid. Mostly because I'm tired and lazy tonight and because they are pretty much doing the same things now.

Month 21 so far has not been fun. We are only days into it and we have lots and lots and LOTS of whining. Fit throwing, getting super frustrated, screaming, fighting with each other, and getting up and hour and a half earlier than they normally do. This is despite all the outside time they have been getting and going to bed at there normal time(7:30) super tired. They are still taking a nap in the afternoon(thank goodness). They have gotten super picky and it's a huge chore to find something they will eat. They have pretty much abandoned breakfast, no matter what I give them. I even tried to give them donuts one day to see if it was just the stuff I was offering, but nope no donuts for them, which I'm kinda glad about. If this is an indication to the "terrible two's" I only hope it doesn't get worse. So far, they have continued to sleep through the night.

Kolton has peed in the potty twice now. He is beginning to tell me when he has pooped or peed, so I suppose soon we will have to get on with the potty training. Karter is still not really interested. Karter's obsession with computers and phones has become some what un-healthy, for me that is. Un-healthy because I have to hear the fit that ensues every time he sees a phone or hears the computer room door open. This morning and in his attempts to get us up so very early he and Kolton were saying every single word they know. Including computer"puter" and phone, B(binky), mommy, daddy, Bobo(the dog) and a few others before they began to scream at 6:30. Yeah, us!

So I'm hoping their crankiness or whatever it is will slow down or go away soon. They are happy for the most part, but man oh man those mins or hours when they aren't are not pretty.

I don't look forward to showing our house and I don't look forward to packing and moving, but I do look forward to having more room. Our house here as served us well. We have lived here 8 years, but quite frankly we have out grown it and the backyard is small, not enough room for a huge dog(great dane) and two smaller ones and two kids and all their toys. We are looking for a least an acre, so I will keep you posted. Oh, updates on weights and heights on the kiddos on Friday, that's when they have their next doctor appt.

These pics where taken about at week ago, since then the weather is much nicer and we can go out in shorts and no jacket.

This is Zeeo or Bobo we call him both. He's our 9 year old Great Dane

13 month update..

Of course I'm late getting this done, but it has been a busy couple of weeks. On the 15th,16th 17th we had March Of Dimes kickoff meetings we had to attend. The boys were very well behaved. However on the last day I asked Kolton is he was ready to go bye bye and he shook his head no. They are usually excited to go places, but I suppose they had had enough. Then today we had the last March of Dimes kickoff. Next will be the walk, which we are excited for. So lets get started.

Kolton-Still no walking. He can do it, he's so close, but he just does not have the confidence yet. He is getting two more teeth on the bottom. This brings his total to 8, he may have some coming in on top but he hasn't let me check lately. Kolton says a couple more words now. In addition to bye, bye bye, Dad,Daddy, Mama, uh-oh, all done, now there is kitty or kitty cat and lots and lots of words I can't decipher. He talks up a storm to whatever or whoever will listen. He uses his little hands and holds them up in the air and looks you in the face. I have no clue what he is saying, but he seems to know and it's so cute. Tonight I caught he doing that same thing to his brother and touching his arm trying to get him to do something or go somewhere. Karter just acted annoyed and crawled away. We are done with formula and are drinking out of a cup, except for they are allowed to have some water in a bottle to go to sleep but most times Kolton doesn't use it. He loves orange juice and other juices, loves fruit, especially Mandarin oranges, but likes all kinds. Loves waffles and eats the most days for breakfast. Eats everything we eat and likes it all except eggs, which neither one likes in any form. He did start something that I have not seen before. Just before his birthday he started wanting a binky and now he wants one a lot. I found it weird but didn't fight it too much since we where weaning from the bottle I figured he was using it as a comfort item. However now he has two. He has his binky and his blankie, which he usually only gets when he is sleepy. When he's ready for a nap and just before bedtime he will find his blankie and binky and come to one of us and wants to be held. I figure in the near future we will work on only having binkies in bed and then eventually take them away and replace it with his blankie or something else. I'm not too worried about it now. Our schedule usually works great, they like schedules. I think their time in the NICU has something to do with how well they adjust to things. They know what's going to happen most days and when and that's the way they like it. Bedtime is 7-7:30 and they get up at the same time in the morning. Kolton sleeps through the night, but I do hear him wake up on the monitor once or twice but he moans or talks himself back to sleep. He mimics daddy when he play growls at him and is big on sticking things into other things and taking them back out again. They have started getting the "mommy don't leave me" syndrome and I can't even walk out of the room or try to cook without both of them coming after me crying. I will be glad when this phase is over and they can play more independently cause I don't get much done during the day this way. With that said they have started being able to play on their own or with each other for a few minutes or two. Kolton also likes music on the TV. He takes off to see the tv when the opening song for Backyardigans comes on, but could care less about he actual show right now. No weights this month but they are getting heavy and I can tell they are growing. They have grown out of their size 3 shoes that fit them just weeks ago and some of their 12 months clothes are getting too small. I actually bought them 18 month jammies the other day and they fit. Kolton is such a delight always ready with a smile, he likes women and likes to bat his eyes and flirt, he really a little ham. I can't wait to see what the coming months bring.

Karter-Still not walking either, but is also so close. He had 8 teeth with another trying to come in on the top. Karter says bye, or bye bye, mama, daddy, kitty, Papa, Kolton says this also, and I'm sure their are a few others I don't remember right now. He likes to mock you as well. If you blow raspberries so will he if you growl so will he. He comes up behind me if I'm sitting on the floor and will pat my back and lay his head on me. He has an obsession with the phone and I can barley talk on it now without being attacked and him whining the whole way through my conversation. A couple of weeks ago he managed to get the phone and call someone, then he hung the phone up. The only reason we knew is because the person called us back asking if we had called. Oops. He also wants what he wants when he wants it and will bow back or stiffen his legs in protest. He's my strong willed one, however Kolton can be pretty stubborn. Several times he has decided he is done eating and i am not moving fast enough to get him out of his chair. He will bow back and pop the back of his plastic booster off, this really ticks him off and he has a look of surprise. He also eats what we eat, does not like eggs, loves juice and usually likes his milk. Karter had a harder time giving up the bottle. He was a big middle of the night bottle boy. Slowly we added water to his formula until is was almost all water. He protested at first but we keep on and now he only has water in his bottle, which he drinks every night. I was and still am a water drinker in the middle of the night. I always as long as i can remember have a glass of water by the bed. He comes by it honestly. Karter is a bit more clingy than than Kolton is not as interested in tv and would rather be by my side. He too likes women and is a flirt as well and flash is best dimples smile. He likes to scoot things across the floor, anything, cars, phones, chairs, pots, pans if it will scoot he scoots it. When he flashes his toothy little grins it just melts my heart. I look forward to see what each new day brings.

Happy 1st Birthday Kolton and Karter!

We made it. At times it felt like we wouldn't but we did and it just keeps getting better from here. I have a whole bunch of stuff to update on. First not only was it the boys birthday today, but it was also the kickoff meeting for the March of Dimes in my area. I gave my speech today, got my information for WalkAmerica and will be setting up my sites there soon. On the March of Dimes site you will be able to donate to the March of Dimes. When I get it set up I will post a link and more information to where your money goes and how you can help.

First off I can't believe in just one short year we went from this

Karter 3 days old

Kolton 3 days old

To this.

1 year old

This, as I have said before has been the most happiest, saddest, loneliest, overwhelming year of my life. I had no idea the amount of suffering and heartache Jimmy and I would endure. I had no idea of the number of premature babies or babies with birth defects where born on a day. I have seen first hand as I'm sure others of you out there have witnessed the sadness that goes on in the NICU. Fortunately and Praise God my story has turned out to be a positive one, but many are not and I have witnessed those. I am glad that I am aware of it now, it gives me the dedication I need to work with the March of Dimes, but on another level I wish I had the naivete that I had before I went through all this. It is not easy knowing that everyday babies are born too soon and may die or have to endure an amazing struggle all before their due date. This can happen to anyone, which is the hardest to understand. I did everything I was supposed to do during my pregnancy, however my body could not handle the stress of twins and had stretched to the max, thinking I was at full term and resulting in my boys being born too early. I'm not as sad about it as I used to be, time has healed Jimmy and I a little, but every now and then I will see a scar or a picture and it all comes back. The feeling of anxiety, worry and uncertainty.

Boy I sure am glad that year is over, now bring on the terrible twos.

I have more things add, like the speech I gave today and the boys one year update, but it will have to wait until later. It's late and we had a very busy day so off to bed I go.

11 months-3 days late

On the 17Th the boys turned 11 months old. How can they be 11 months old already? People were right, time does go by fast. Lets get started on the updates.

Mama and the boys in their jammies. That's my dog Baylee behind us with his mouth open and his tongue out.

Kolton-He still only has 6 teeth. Four on top which he got all at once and two on bottom. He is a pro at standing and cruising along the couch and coffee tables. He even likes to push the chairs around in the kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen we expanded their play area to include half the kitchen, half the hall and the entry way. Pretty much they spend most of their time in the kitchen area, pushing toys and chairs around, looking out the glass door at the dogs and yelling at them. Kolton I believe has a pretty big vocabulary for his age, of course I'm biased so what do I know? He can say bye and wave. It takes him a minuet to get it going but when he does he grins and watches his hand as he waves. He can also say all gone when his food is gone and holds both hand up by his shoulders and shrugs when he does this. I have done this for a long time when they finish their meal. He also can say momma or mom, daddy, nannie and oh. He has said but does not say often, papa. He no longer eats baby food and only wants real food, which he proceeds to rub all over his head and most times in his eyes. I actually tried to feed them both baby food the other day and they both just sat in their chairs and cried. I am having a hard time finding things to feed them. I want it to be healthy for the most part. I try to always offer them a vegetable. They pretty much like all of them, but finding something else is getting hard sometimes. Kolton is doing great on his sleeping and usually sleeps through the night. They go to bed at 7 or 7:30 and sleep until 7 or 7:30. He still wakes up happy and ready to play.

Karter-He is currently getting 5 teeth. Yes, five, four on top and one on bottom, for a total of 7. This had made for some cranky days and one or two cranky nights. He is now a pro at standing and can also cruise along the coffee table and couch. He too likes to push the chairs in the kitchen and stand at the door yelling at the dogs. Karter can now clap, something his brother has not done yet. One thing I have noticed about him this week is he is aware of when he needs to do number 2. Several times I have watched him crawl into the kitchen sit in the middle of the floor all by himself and do his business. If you look at him and ask him what he is doing he just smiles. Silly boy! Karter also likes to eat, but does not want baby food. He still wakes up one to two times a night and pretty much demands a bottle at least one of those times. He really likes his bottle and his binky. I can handle one or two times a night for a short time, he never stays awake very long and usually I hand him the bottle and go back to bed. Speaking of sleep, Jimmy and I have started switching nights, for example I take both babies one night and he the next. Up until now we had switched babies each night meaning he takes Karter I take Kolton and the next night switch, but with them sleeping better the new way works out better because one of us gets a full nights sleep. Ahhh sleep. Karter can say momma, daddy, nannie and I swear the other day he said doggie. He likes to whisper daddy, it's so cute.

No weights on them until the 20Th of July. I'm sure they are both over 20lbs now so they will be able to turn their seats around when they are one. Yay, they will be happy to be able to see something other than the back of the seat.
Fathers day was nice, we did exactly what daddy wanted to do, which was nothing, but lounge around. I wanted to get a picture, but Jimmy wouldn't let me. He said had he know I wanted to do that he would have shaved because he hadn't done so in a few days and put on something nicer. Oh well.

First time in the pool. They both liked it a lot.

10 months old..

Today the boys are 10 months old. I can't believe that in two short months they will be one. I must admit I really don't think I will miss the infancy stage all that much. Had we had a "normal" pregnancy and then gotten to take them right home I might miss it more, however I did not really enjoy the monitors, although they gave me peace or the oxygen that Karter came home on. I have heard many a mom explain just how much she enjoyed when they where small babies. I enjoy this stage so much more. They are more independent and here's the kicker, they sleep better at night. Karter still gets up once or twice, but now it's not a 30 mins to and hour ordeal. Actually, and I know what all the material says about doing this, but when you have twins and you really, really need sleep you will do somethings that you did not think you would. Like for instance. I will now just give him is bottle in bed, he can hold it and when he's done he throws it down and goes back to sleep, this in turn allows me and the hubby some extra sleep. Enough about that lets move on.

Kolton:He is now a pro at pulling up and no longer spends most of his time on his toes. He has begun to move from toy to toy or couch to coffee table and will sometimes slide around the coffee table. I know it's only a matter of time before he takes a step. And as much as I look forward to this I also dread it somewhat, because that means he is closer to trying to run away from me. Kolton will be a climer. He is already trying to climb over the baby gate, over the dog cage, over his toy piano. This I am sure will cause him to get more than one bump to the head. Kolton is also my little over achiever. He is cutting 4 teeth on top all at once. This made for a very miserable week for him and us, but they seemed to have pushed though enough that they don't hurt so much. I did have to give him some Tylenol several nights in a row. He can now feed himself, but sometimes he doesn't want to or he gets tired of it, so I still feed them one or two of there meals by spoon. He pretty much likes anything you give him. I don't have official weights on them, but I'm sure Kolton is over 20 lbs. They are both wearing 12 months clothes because most of the 6/9 months are too short in the crotch for them. Kolton is going to be the bigger boy probably like is daddy. His hands a bigger than Karters, along with his feet, and his thickness in his legs. Matter of fact his legs look just like is daddy's. When in the living room, where there are gates everywhere, he is always moving. He's mean to his brother sometimes though. He will stand on him if they are in the same crib and if he is trying to go somewhere and Karter is in the way he plows right over him, causing them to both fall down. He always tries to take what Karter has and I already have to tell him no, which he seems to understand somewhat. Kolton is pretty much happy all the time, he talks a lot and loves to kinda rough house in the floor with mommy or daddy. It gives him the giggles.

Karter: He is my sweet boy, well they both are sweet but Kolton's kinda ornery. He is usually more quiet thank Kolton, he does talk a lot, but he uses a quieter voice. He loves his binky and it he loses it in the floor he will go looking for it. Karter just learned to pull up about a week ago. He's still not very good at it, by that I mean he can pull up, but sometimes his legs are too far apart or to far out behind him. He doesn't really get that he has to bring them forward most of the time so he stand there and whines for help. He is so proud of himself when he does pull up and looks to everyone to clap and tell him yay. Karter only has the two teeth on bottom, but has been slobbering a lot recently, however I don't feel a tooth trying to come in, but I'm sure one is somewhere. He still army man crawls, but has begun to use his knees a little more. I have wondered if he will skip crawling all together and just learn to walk. When he wants to learn something he will try over and over until he gets it. When he is having a hard time at it he gets frustrated and begans to whine. Karter is happy almost all the time as well. The only time he gets cranky is when there is food involved. He throws a fit if he does not like it, wants more, wants it faster or does not want it at all. Sometimes I don't even know what he wants. This used to frustrate me but know I offer him more, or something different and if he still throws a fit, I get him out of the high chair. He is also feeding himself and seems to really enjoy this. Karter will probably be the smaller boy. He is not far behind Kolton is weight or height but has smaller features. He has smaller hands and feet. His legs are not as thick either. I imagine he will be about the height of most of the men on my dad's side. I figure Kolton will be taller like his daddy's side. Fine by me, we will see if I'm wrong as they get older.

They love to go places and we have taken them to eat with us several times. This usually entails me not getting to eat and them making a big mess, but they seem to really enjoy it. I can't wait to see what the next two months bring.

8 Months Old-A few days late.

On the 17Th the boys turned 8 months old (6 months adjusted). They are getting so big. I don't have official weights for them until their 9 month visit to the doctor, but I would say Kolton weights about 18lbs maybe a little less and Karter 16.5 to 17lbs. Kolton has surpassed his brother in the weight once again. I do believe also that he is a least an inch taller than Karter. In the last month, well actually in the last week they have began to do all kinds of things. As you can see from the picture they can sit, Kolton better than Karter, but Karter is getting better everyday. Kolton can even lean over and get to his stomach without a big crash to the floor. Kolton is also mobile in the fact that he can roll and turn in a circle on his stomach. He is getting on his knees every now and then and rocking a little. I figure it won't be long before he crawls. He also has two teeth that are now very visible and very sharp. He sleeps through the night most of the time, if he gets up it's only once about 3-4am and he goes back to sleep. He is a good eater and eats fast and usually eats it all. This past week they have had allergies with a stuffy nose and have not been sleeping or eating as well.

Kotlon is a flirt and likes pretty ladies. When we do go out or when his Nannie and Papa visit he usually notices Nannie first and just smiles and stares. Look at those cute little teeth.

They have notice each other and I have heard them "talk" to one another on occasion. Kolton is not too nice sometimes. He steals his brothers binky from his mouth, even though he does not like to suck on a binky, however if his brother has it he wants it. I have seen them both pinch each others faces, however it's usually Kolton going for something Karter has. Karter has just recently began to fight back and try to take the toy or binky back.

Karter now talks all the time, he has such a sweet, quiet voice compared to Kolton's who is deeper and louder. He still whines a lot, but not as much as he used too. He is still working on his sitting but is getting the hang of it. He still does not have any teeth, but is drooling like crazy and I think his gums are swollen on the bottom. He loves his solids and breakfast is his favorite. We are still doing stage two foods. I don't think they are ready for lumps in their food yet it still kinds gag them. Karter is also my picky eater opposed to Kolton who will eat anything and loves his veggies. Karter likes the sweet things. He loves all fruits and will only eat the yellow veggies. He prefers meat and a fruit or meat mixed with a yellow veggie. If it is not one of the above he smiles and spits it out at you. At first I thought it was just him being silly but I have tried it numerous times and he does it every time. Karter said his first word about a week ago. He said Mama. He has said it several times since then. I forgot to mention that Kolton said his first word today. He said Dada. It's so cute when they talk. Karter also rolls around on the floor and is also starting to get on his knees a little. Just today I saw him turn in a circle on his stomach like Kolton does. Karter also loves, loves his binky and thankfully can put the thing in his mouth on his own now. This has resulted in fewer trips in the middle of the night to help him. We have a stash of three binkys, so in the night when he throws one behind the bed instead of crawling under it we just give him a new one. He is still getting up at least once a night most times twice, he eats both times then goes back to sleep. Karter also likes the ladies and smiles all them time. I do believe he is more of a mama's boy than Kolton and will cuddle with me in bed. Kolton has never really liked to do that, he a super busy boy.

They are both growing so much I see changes every day. I can't wait to see what the next month brings us. I'm so proud of my boys.

7 Months Old

The boys turned 7 months old on the 17th of this month. They are really starting to notice things. They both hold their hands up to both Jimmy and I to be picked up. They will whine when they want something and if you take something away they want they try to hang on to it and began to whine. Both roll over, back to front and front to back. Both are eating solids like champs, although if Karter is too hungry he will throw a fit in the highchair. He can be very impatient. To fix this I give him an ounce or two of formula before I feed him his solids and that does the trick. Neither one is sleeping through the night yet. Kolton will get up once anywhere from 2:00 to 4:00. Karter sometimes is once a night and sometimes twice. They go to bed anywhere from 6:00 to 7:00. Sometimes they take a bottle before they fall asleep and sometimes they don't. If they don't they usually will wake up anywhere from 9:00 to 11:00 for a bottle, or at least Karter does. Then he will wake up again at about 3 or 4. EVERY night Karter wakes up about 4:00 or 5:00 no matter what, he wants his binky and it usually falls out several times before he goes back to sleep.

Kolton can sit by himself for about 20 seconds before he falls over. Karter is still working on it. Both put weight on their legs and like to stand up. They also have began to interact with each other, holding their hands out and smiling and talking. I am really enjoying this age. We are getting just a little more sleep, and for the most part they are happy babies. Karter can get a little cranky and fussy sometimes, but it does not take much to make him smile.

Since the weather has been nice for two days now we have taken walks and they both seem to really enjoy them.

Kolton loves those glasses. He hates the sun in his eyes. I found these glasses that go with an outfit his Nanny got him, he never tried to take them off. Made the walk much more enjoyable for him. Karter needs a pair, I'm going to have to find some for him.

6 Months Old

Yesterday they were 6 months old. People keep telling me the times goes by very quickly and before I know it they will be starting school. The past two months they have really grown both physically and developmentally. I'll start with Kolton. Kolton can now roll from his front to his back both left and right. He can hold his head up at a 90 angle when on his belly, although he does not like to be on his belly very long. He is beginning to want to sit up straight when you are holding him. He's been drooling a lot and has two teeth on the bottom trying to poke their way through. They don't seem to bother him to bad. He is eating good and we have restarted solids. I stopped for a week or so because they both just cried through it. He's not to fond of the just plain rice cereal but he does like bananas. And he has even begun to sleep through the night. Usually he goes to bed between 6:00pm and 7:30 and will sleep until 6:00am, sometimes he still wakes up about 2 or 3 for a bottle. They are reaching for things now and putting them in their mouths. I will have to baby proof this place very soon. Over all Kolton is a happy smiley boy, he very rarely cries and will entertain himself for quite awhile before he gets board. He usually goes to bed with no problem and awakes with a smile on his face. He now weights 14lb2oz and is 24 inches and something tall(the nurse told Jimmy and he didn't remember).

Karter can roll from his back to his stomach, I think he might be left handed he seems to use that one more but not sure yet. He can also hold his head up at a 90 degree angle but like Kolton does not like to be on his stomach too long. He wants to sit up so bad and tries to fling himself forward if in a reclining position, he won't lay like this for long before he starts to fuss. He likes to watch TV a lot. He also has two teeth that are trying to come through they are not as far in as Koltons and if I didn't mention it before they are both on the bottom on both boys. Karter eats well but he eats slow it sometimes takes 40 mins for him to eat his bottle. He is also eating solids but began to get fussy today when I tried to give him some. Karter is having some sleep issues that seem to be getting better slowly. He does not usually go to bed as easily as Kolton you have to rock him before bed. He is still waking two times a night, last week it was three, hopefully it will stay at two or less. I had to separate them because he was waking Kolton up all the time. They don't seem to care one bit. Kolton is now in their room and Karter is still in ours I hope to soon move him to his own room as well. Karter sometimes won't nap all day. He will get up at 6:00 or so and only take a small cat nap. This makes for a very exhausting day for him and me. Karter is a very busy boy. He will not entertain himself for very long before he begins to fuss. He seems to get board easily, he is very nosey and wants to know what is going on all the time. I assume this is why he does not nap well. He is also reaching for things and putting them in his mouth. Karter is a flirt and likes to smile a lot as long as he is getting what he wants. He weights 14lbs and is also 24 and something tall. Something exciting but scary is that at his doctor visit on Tuesday the doctor wrote a script to discontinue his apnea monitor. Now this is scary and great at the same time. Great because he is now like a "normal" baby no preemie equipment left over but scary because those two little green flashing lights become your best friend. Want to know if he's breathing, just look for the green lights. This has of course sent us in a quest to find devices on the market that alarm is there is no movement for at least 20 seconds.

Both kids are growing and I look forward to the coming months of sitting and crawling and interacting more with each other.
