Creepy

I'm so incredibly creeped out by that Second Look commercial with the one eyed people.

I like Target, I like Target a lot!

After being stuck at home for two days because of the ice and snow, the kids and I decided to make a trip to Target just to get out of the house. The boys were very excited to be going somewhere. As I tried to back out of the garage my tires were slipping a lot, but I managed, however at the end of the drive my SUV was having all kinds of trouble. I had been trying for about 5 mins or so to get out and decided that we would just have to be stuck at home another day. When I announced this to the boys Kolton said "no mommy, I want to go to Target." When I explained that we couldn't get out of the drive he said "mommy can do it" he was very admit so I kept on and I did eventually get out and they were so happy. They both said "you did it mommy."

Karter then said the batteries were running down. I finally figured out that he thought I was slipping and stuck because my batteries were low, like in his toys. They get sluggish and don't work right when the batteries are low. I thought that was pretty smart.

Also I want to thank everyone for their suggestions on my last post. I have some ideas now!

This is one reason I love Target.

This chair was on sale for 50% off. They didn't have anymore in stock so I asked to by the floor sample. I was able to get the floor sample for and additional 30% off the half off price. Making a $329.00 chair $124.00. While that's still a nice chunk of change it was a good deal. It does have screw holes in the legs where it was bolted to the floor but they are really un-noticeable unless they are pointed out and one leg has a crack in it.

I do think it looks very nice in my living room. I just need to get a nice pillow and maybe a throw or something.
What great finds have you found lately?

Things heard and done at my house this week.

We've had our first, and probably only snow/ice storm. This is the front yard.

Several night ago the boys were in the bathtub. I had given them their toothbrushes to brush their teeth, I always follow up with a brush from mommy, anyway Karter got out of the tub and I stepped out of the room to get his clothes. When I came back Kolton said. "I brushing my ding ding", to which I replied "no, no buddy we don't brush our ding ding with our toothbrush!"

Kolton and Karter have been wanting and eating lots of cheese. Jimmy and I tell them eating too much cheese will clog your butthole up. I know, I know we should probably have used a better word. Anyway, while eating raisins the other day Kolton told Jimmy that "raisins clog me butthole up." Oh Brother!

Jimmy ate his ice cream out of the dog food bowl last night. He had no idea until I pointed it out to him. He has used the smaller dogs food bowl, which is just a plastic tupperware bowl, to fill up our Great Danes bowl to which he added scraps. He sat it on the counter so I could add more food to it later. When I told him he said "oh man, I thought it was a clean bowl."

The boys have been craaaazy lately. I can't wait until it's warmer outside. These boys need to get out and burn off some energy. They have been talking like crazy and using their imaginations like crazy. I've run out of ideas. We've played with playdough, we've painted, colored, played in the water, played with phones and electronics, I don't know what else to do to entertain them. Anyone got any ideas. I try to read to them but they lose interest quickly. They don't really seem interested in learning sounds and letters yet and I'm not sure how to really do this with them. Anyone got ideas on this?

I've worried about the horses these past could of days. While their owners have been feeding them, I can see the wetness and probably ice on their fur. Makes me want to buy them coats, or build them a barn or something. They seem to be doing fine though. This is the backyard.

Hello Ugly!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Things around here have been really busy. Several things going on at one time and I've had to prioritize and the blog has taken the back burner. I have missed it though.

When I could have been posting, after the kids go to bed, and after I clean the kitchen, and do some laundry. I have been looking at lots of home decorating sites. I've found some I really love and will link to them on my blog soon.
Now, I know that mostly this blog has been about the kids and our lives with them in it. But I wanted to post about something different. The kids are doing good actually they are driving Jimmy and I nuts at times but they are good and happy that's important.
So on to something different.
We bought our house new. No one had lived here before us, we didn't have to clean the carpets or really scrub the tubs that much. I liked that part, but I have found somethings that I don't like in our new house. I just assumed that everything would be pretty much perfect since it was new and all, no wear and tear so to speak of, but I have found that is not really the case. No major things, but none the less stuff I could do without. Anywho today I'm addressing the horrible BRASS fixtures in this house.
The house has beautiful cabinets and wood work, so I suppose the builder scrimped on the cheaper stuff, or he being has no taste and chose these horrible fixtures because he liked them. Regardless they are U G L Y,(they ain't go no alibi, they ugly. Who else remembers this?), anyway back to the ugly. The house is pretty big and it's covered in shiny fake brass. See for yourself.

This is in the foyer or entryway, whatever you call it. We have a pretty big entryway, with these tiny little lights. After we sell our old house, and that's a whole other story, I will be working on making this one mine. Anyway, back to the lights, they are tiny for this big space. Eventually I will paint it and buy some more respectable light fixtures. These are actually not that bad compared to some of the others.

To the left of the front door is the dinning room that we will be using for a family room. Jimmy hits his head on this thing every single time he goes into the room. It's a beauty don't you think?

The living room is at the end of the entryway. Don't you just love all the etching on this fans brass. Oh, and ignore the fuzz or whatever it is on the blades. I'm just keeping it real here. Although I do need to clean those off.

This is actually one of the cabinets in the master bath, but these knobs are in all the bathrooms and the kitchen. This picture does not do the the ugly justice they deserve.

The beauty that hangs over the kitchen table.

This is actually in the boys bathroom, but the small half bath has one just like it but with only three lights.

Every single door handle and deadbolt color!

Our house is beautiful and I love it. I can't wait to get some of my touches on it though. That however will have to wait as we are painting some things in our old house in hopes that it will finally sell. I'm thinking leaving the living room wall red was not a good idea.

Told Ya So!

The hubby and I had a short conversation 5 or 6 days ago about the status of the full gas cans on the newly acquired lawn mower trailer parked outside our garage.

Me: Honey, don't you think you should put that gas in the garage?

DH: Well, I don't want full gas cans in the garage for safety reasons.

I can understand this.

Me: Well don't you think someone might steal it?

DH: No, I don't think someone will come down our long driveway and steal the gas.

Me: I do

What do you think happened today?

Someone came down our long driveway and stole the three full gas containers. Thankfully they left the trailer which DH had not gotten chained to the tree yet. And they did it while I was home. I'm pretty sure they did it while I was putting the kids down for their naps. I thought I heard a car door, but assumed it was the mail ladies. Anyway, I don't know that I would have done much I wouldn't want to die over gas. I sure hope they really needed it.

Potty Training (Part 3)

We are still working on it, but Karter is now in the lead. He only occasionally pees his pants, and just today told me when he had to go. Neither one are convinced that you can actually poop in the potty, but both have been told if they poop in the potty they will get to go to the store and pick out a toy.

It's still no fun and takes up A LOT of time. Going to the yucky public bathrooms now takes what seems like 20 mins and trying to convince both boys to not touch all the nasty stuff in there or open and close the door is a challenge. I have several times just wanted to give up and try again later, but I'm still pretty sure they are ready, just stubborn and lazy at times.

We will just keep chugging a long.

Now for a funny story.

So the other day I opened the back door to give the dogs some food and Kolton ran out. It's been really cold here lately and Jimmy usually tells him that it's so cold he will freeze his ding ding off. That's what we call his little boy parts. He had his underwear on but no pants. I told him to get inside that is was so cold he would freeze his ding ding off. He ran back inside and looked concerned. I asked him if his ding ding was still there. He looked down and touched his underwear and said yeah, then he opened his pants looked inside and said "it's still there." Of course I was laughing and he started to laugh too. Silly little boys.

Pictures to come soon. Tonight I'm having trouble getting to them on our server.

Where I've Been

Oh folks, let me tell you I've been busy.

When I'm not doing this. That is chasing little boys around to get them to use it.

I'm doing this or this.

And after those I've been doing this. I found this site while surfing around and man oh man let me tell you I can't get enough. I've gotten so many good ideas from Thrifty Chick, I can't wait to try some of them, cause this house need some help to make it more homey.

Potty training is still going I'll update on that later.

I Think I'm Gonna Die! (Potty Training Part 2)

I watched my nephew Collin for a few hours on Saturday.

Not really. Well, maybe. I'm trying to potty training again. I tried it four months or so ago and it went good for a week and then they gave up and so did I. I have to tell you I did not look forward to this, it is going exactly how I expected it would and it's killing me.

Karter and my Ipod. Check out the way he thinks they go on your ears.

Karter and more digital equipment. Our old camera.

This is right up there with when you first come home with twins and you have to figure out how to care for both of them at the same time. You get really frustrated, and overwhelmed, unlike when they are babies and they just cry, which is overwhelming in it's self, now they run around and pee on stuff.

Kolton coloring. He has been doing a lot of this lately.

Kolton and his scratched up face. He did this in his sleep.

It's exhausting trying to keep up with them and to go to the bathroom every 30 mins. and to wait on them to go to make sure the other one is not peeing everywhere. We tried pull ups but they think they are diapers and the minuet you put them on them they poop or pee in them, so we are having to go straight to underwear.

I know it sounds lazy, but seriously changing diapers is so much easier. Easier on my time, my sanity, and my back trying pull their pants up and down. Tomorrow will be day three. I'm not sure how that's going to go because my mom is supposed to come over and we planned on going out and about. I don't want to give up so soon, but holy cow, I don't care what anyone says having twins is so hard sometimes.

It's how hot in January?

One of reasons I can handle Oklahoma winters is that one day it's 25 degrees outside and the next day it will be 65 and one day last week it was on the 70's. The saying in Oklahoma is if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute it will change. That's pretty right on. Anyway, my reason for telling you this is that on those days we go outside, because when it's 25 outside the kids get stir crazy, emphasis on the CRAZY. They love outside and I like that they get all that energy out.

The Dishwasher Story

So, as most of you know we moved 6 months ago, and our old house still has not sold, that's just a side note, not important to the story, anyway moving on. Our house is a new house that sat empty for a little over a year. All the manufactures warranties were expired on the appliances and such, but the builder, in front of both realtors and the title company told us the house had a one year builders warranty. Everyone thought that was great and the builder was all "i like to back my stuff". Before we moved in we let the builder know that the dishwasher had a pretty big dent in the front of it and we wanted that fixed. He said he would order the new panel and bring it to us as soon as it was in. It took us about 2 months and numerous emails and phone calls to get that and Jimmy actually went and picked it up from the company. But that was not the only issue we had. The dishwasher didn't work at all. We called the guy and after several days he sent a repair man to the house. It was fixed or so we thought. That same week, the first week living here, the hot water heater on the boys end of the house was not working and was not lighting like it should. Once again the repair guy came out after several calls to the builder. Their was several other things that we contacted him for but he never responded. Like the fans in the boys room made horrible noises. Two fans, after online research we found that that brand of fan had had problems with bad motors. We also contacted him for a non working attic fan and never heard from him. However, he did respond with the correct info via email when we contacted him a couple of months ago about our Clearstream sewer system not working correctly. It was still covered by a factory warranty and we need the info to contact the company that installed it. Turns out that the control box should not have been installed so close to the house eve where the rain splashes back into it. It caused the board to short out. Thankfully that was fixed with no problems.

Ok that was a little back story of the issues we have had and how the builder has respond sometimes and not at others, however he has respond with the same email address each and every time. About 3 weeks ago the dishwasher started acting up again. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. We emailed him and heard nothing from him, for a week or more. Finally, we got fed up. What we really wanted to do was take the old dishwasher, which isn't really old at all and dump it on his front porch with a nasty note, but that wouldn't be very Christian like and certainly not what God would do. I however thought that we should let him know how disappointed we where that he has not stuck to his word or backed his work. I realized we contacted him for several things, however the house wasn't free we paid a nice chunk of change for it and I feel being a new home with new appliances they should work and when someone tells me they are going to do something I expect them to do it.

The email basically said we were disappointed that he was not carrying through with his end of the deal and that there were several things that we had just let go and fixed ourselves at our expense, but that we would really like the dishwasher fixed and that we were having to go out and buy a new one at our expense and it would be nice if he reimbursed us for it. Jimmy might have also said that we would really like to dump the old one in his yard, but we were trying to live Christian lives and that we would simply forgive him.

Finally,he responded however he said it was not the man we knew and "Dear madam or Sir, he has never built or sold a home to anyone". Hmm, really? Jimmy emailed again asking if his name was the builders name and he had a business with the builders business name. He responded that he was from Joplin Missouri and has been using that email since July. Hmm, Really? Cause we just emailed you a month ago and you responded from this email and you where the man we thought you were. Jimmy and he went back and forth with little chit chat and then Jimmy said he does not want to bug the wrong guy, but could he do an email check on his email address and by doing that he would be able to see what city and the email was coming from, and that he didn't want to call the man a liar but the man we have dealt with before does so. Now I have to tell you here that Jimmy really has no way of knowing the city the email is coming from. He is a systems engineer and told the man so and the real builder knew this, but I suppose he was calling the guys bluff because we have not heard from him since. Not a yes or no, nothing, nada.

Our conclusion is that this email was the correct email and for some reason the builder decided to play a little game. How silly is that. We are out money for a new dishwasher and we have no faith in this builder now.

Don't misunderstand that we still love our new house, however it has come with some issues, that I supposes now we are on our own with.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I've tried to update several times, but things keep getting in the way.

Days have been busy around here. Kiddos have not been napping and have been waking up several times at night. This has made for a very tired mommy and daddy, which is a big factor in the not updating. We have also been trying to cut back on the paci's as I think they are messing up Karter's teeth and I don't want permanent damage, I feel it's my responsibility as the parent to stop this if I can. It has not been fun for Karter, who really likes his "B". We are just to nap time and bed time only. I'm honestly scared to take the things away as I know what I'm facing. No sleep and a very, very cranky little boy or two for that matter. Alas it must be done.

I also wanted to mention as I failed to do so on the blog that on the 21st of December was our 12th anniversary. My wonderful mother and father-in-law came barring Christmas gifts for the kiddos and watched them while Jimmy and I went to PF Changs. Twelve years when did that happen? I often tell him, had we had children when most people do in their marriage we would have a 9 or 10 year old by now. I can't imagine that. I'm so glad we waited. We traveled, had sports cars, bought pretty much whatever we wanted and just enjoyed our time together as two. Now we don't feel we are missing out on anything and have two wonderful boys. I couldn't imagine it any other way. Jimmy is a wonder husband and a great daddy to Kolton and Karter. I love you metalbox!
Now for pictures.

Kolton informed me yesterday morning that he was a doggie and he was eating dog food. He was really eating dried cereal.

Here Karter is showing me his teeth. You can see how they are beginning to buck out, but he sure is cute either way.
(Ignore the kickplate thing that is missing from the dishwasher, that's a whole story in it's self.)
